"They're spending it on technology. That statement could be a little
vague.
You know what we need to do, don't you? We need to know what kind of
money he's talking about if we're going to try to earn some mad money.
So, in an effort to make you some money, I’m going to tell you exactly who
makes the technology Tillerson (XOM ceo) is talking about. And then
I’ve got the one oil co. With a 5-year plan to harness this technology and
maybe make you some serious 'mon-back cash.
I've got not but one, but three, oil technology cos that I think are the
lifeblood of the industry.
Two of them are new, and one's a bit more of a nostalgia play.
The two new boys are core labs (CLB) and Dawson Geophysical (DWSN).
Both of these have been performers; I think they're going to keep performing.
How much technology do you need to pump oil? It turns out you need a
lot of it.
To drill these days, you need detailed information on both the petroleum
reservoir rock and the quality and quantity of the oil and gas you've got down
there.
The last technology co. That should seriously benefit from all the money
flowing from the coffers of big oil is FMC technology (FTI).
These guys are the world leader in flow measurement and they make a lot of deep
water technology that let's oil cos explore those very hard to get places.
When Tillerson was talking about technology, he was absolutely talking about
FTI.
The bottom line! When the CEO of Exxon goes on the Today show and tells
you he's investing in technology, you've got to pull the trigger! You've
got to buy CLB; you should be thinking about the DWSN; and please, please,
please, always come back to FTI!"
